Manuel loved to dance salsa, he grew up dancing and decided to take salsa lessons to get better. He absolutely loved the moving rhythms of salsa music, the sound of the clave, conga and all the musical instruments melting together. This is one of the reasons salsa is called salsa.  So much excitement when he planned to go out dancing, all he could look forward to was dancing whenever he made plans to do so. Manuel took extra care to look his best before going out; as Manuel walked into the dance, he felt a current of anticipation running through him, the passion and fun of his expectation of an awesome night. Bobbing his head to the music, Manuel settled into his environment. He made his way over to ask a young lady to dance, you must realize that every time a guy approaches someone to ask them to dance he takes a bit of a risk. Putting yourself out there makes you vulnerable, a yes means you will be rewarded, a no can pierce the ego a bit. On this occasion of vulnerability, his pride was pricked as his would be dance partner said no. On the dance floor and off, we should always remember the “Golden Rule”. Dance is about having fun, remember salsa dancing is a social activity – this means we should be social. We should always try our best to build each other up and encourage each other every time we get the chance. A yes today is an investment in a dance partner in the future, an investment in the dance community.
